Download QR codes

How to download QR codes from the platform ready to send to your label artwork provider

Updated over 3 months ago

Go to the Catalogue tab and click on the three dots at the end of the product row. Select QR Artwork from the menu.

This will take you to this pop up menu..

  • Download for: you can download the QR code(s) for the product you selected, for all products in that product's group, or for all products in your entire catalogue

  • File format: you can download your QR codes as an SVG (recommended), PNG or JPEG

  • Printing guidelines: this tells you the minimum size your codes must measure when printed to meet GS1 global standards.

You can download a QR code and its associated 1D stripy barcode when clicking on the QR+1D tab

Advanced settings

If you switch on the Advanced options toggle, the pop-up window will look slightly different and you will have more advanced settings you can specify for your QR code downloads.

Error correction level

The error correction level means how much of the QR code can be damaged and still scan. Higher means more of the code can be damaged and it will still scan, but it will make the code larger. Our default error correction level is medium as we find this is the best balance between optimising QR code size and ensuring it will always scan.

File format

The default file format for downloading QR codes is an SVG (Vector) file, but you can also download them as PNG and JPEG files/

Include GTIN as a footer

You can include the GTIN (barcode number) as a footer underneath the QR code. When QR codes replace 1D stripy barcodes on pack as the only code this will be compulsory.

Encode Application Identifiers

When you switch on this toggle, it allows you to encode other supply chain data into your QR codes alongside the GTIN. This information is embedded in the URL that the QR code represents, meaning this data can be retrieved by other stakeholders in the supply chain upon scanning the code. For example, encoding the batch number could be used to support your customers identifying whether they have bought an item that has been recalled due to a safety concern.

A Batch (or Lot) number can be added as free text, but to meet GS1 Digital Link standards it must be between 0-20 characters long and cannot include characters £, $, or ^ (from a technical perspective it must only containt characters from the GS1 82-character encodable character set).

CPV (Consumer Product Variant) can be added as free text, but to meet GS1 Digital Link standards it must be between 0-20 characters long and cannot include characters £, $, or ^ (from a technical perspective it must only containt characters from the GS1 82-character encodable character set).

Expiry date must be input as a date in the dd/mm/yyyy format.

Printing guidelines

This tells you the minimum size you need to print your QR codes to ensure they meet GS1 Digital Link standards. When you add other data (application identifiers), or change the error correction level, the QR code minimum size is automatically updated.
